How can I perform a factory reset on Piper?

Please follow the instructions on how to perform a factory reset, and then start the installation again.

Close out of the Piper app completely.

Hold the power button on the back of the Piper unit until the LED light in front goes out.

Wait 60 seconds.

Hold the power button (located in the back of the Piper unit) until the light flashes Red, Off, Red, Off, Yellow. (It is important that the light appears in this order)

Once the light turns Yellow release the power button and wait for the light to turn Blue, this will take 3-4 minutes.

Once the light turns Blue, Piper will announce it is ready to be set up again.

Open the Piper app.

Follow the on screen prompts.

    They sent me different instructions that worked:

    Please follow the instructions on how to perform a factory reset, and then start the installation again.
    * Please have the piper unit within 5 feet of the router.
    * Close out of the Piper app completely.
    * Please remove the batteries and unplug the power cord from the back of the unit.
    * Wait 60 seconds.
    * Leave the batteries out, plug in the power cord and immediately hold the power button (located in the back of the Piper unit) until the light flashes Red, Off, Red, Off, Yellow. (It is important that the light appears in this order).
    * Once the light turns Yellow release the power button and wait for the light to turn Blue, this will take 3-4 minutes.
    * Once the light turns Blue, the Piper will announce it is ready to be set up again.
    * Open the Piper app.
    * Click on the triangle (Middle of the Circle).
    * Please select troubleshoot. Set up Piper.
    * Follow the on-screen instructions.

    But I'm actually not able to get the app to see the factory reset Piper (still working on that).

    I had just changed the password on my modem. Then I could not get piper to work. I just followed the instructions above and had no problem hooking back up to the network.

    I cannot get my new piper to show the network choices. App goes right to the serial number screen then gives me an error message " an internet connection is required to proceed. Please press retry when your device has an internet connection." The light is blue and the internet works fine every other device shows the networks! Ready to send it back!

    I struggled with the same issues. Customer service at piper is awful. The setup UI is awful. And, the documentation is awful.

    However, I discovered piper is incapable of connecting to a dual band wifi network. Modern devices are engineered to select the best band for their purposes, but the piper just bombs. If you have a dual band router, but are only serving one wifi name, you may need to setup a dedicated 2.5ghz wifi network for your piper and run setup withe that network.

    It sucks and it's a major bug, especially when it's so tough to find good, clean documentation.
