What is Z-Wave?

Z-Wave is a form of communication (like Wi-Fi or Bluetooth) that Piper uses to talk to wireless Z-Wave sensors around your home. For example, if you get a Z-Wave Door/Window sensor, Piper can notify you when your door opens, or sound a siren if your window opens. Or if you get a Z-Wave Smart Switch you can use it to turn lights on and off from your phone, or Piper can tell the Smart Switch to turn on a light if it detects motion. 

 

Pretty much, Z-Wave is a wireless way for home automation and security products to talk to each other in your home.
